The population of the planet has already reached 8 billion inhabitants, and it is still growing ? How are we going to have food for all with the increasing degradation of soil and water resources, and the increase in pollution over the last decade ?
Agriculture is estimated to account for about a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions. To halt this drift, large corporations are committed to promoting more sustainable production processes in the countryside that reduce carbon emissions and help to restore soil fertility, biodiversity and nutrients, so that it can retain its full capacity and reduce deforestation.
In addition to the tools that make farming easier, this process uses other techniques such as the use of organic fertilisers, efficient water use, planting crops that help prevent erosion, grazing with animals and crop rotations.
This process is called Regenerative Agriculture (RA), and it ensures the health of the planet and gives hope for the food of the future.
All of PepsiCo’s main direct crops (potatoes and corn) in Spain are already 100% sustainably sourced.
